Despite the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change describing it as a “code red for humanity” and the profound impact of climate change across a range of social issues already requiring the intervention of charities, philanthropy remains stubbornly reluctant to engage in climate action either through grant making or investments. Although many philanthropists and foundations recognise the urgency and are inclined to take action, there are a variety of perceived barriers which prevent them from doing so.
