Filmed over 13 years, APOLONIA, APOLONIA is a captivating portrait of award-winning Danish/French artist Apolonia Sokol – a unique soul, steadfast in forging her own path, taking the art world by storm.

Showing at BerthaDocHouse from Friday 3 November until Thursday 9th November.

Born in an underground theatre to Parisian bohemians before growing up in an artists’ community, from the very start Apolonia’s story is far from conventional.

Covering a span of 13 years, director Lea Glob follows Apolonia’s attempts to find her place – both in the artworld and in her own life story. But Apolonia’s resilience is put to the test as she navigates an often-unforgiving industry.

Apolonia Apolonia celebrates the intimacy and friendship created between its filmmaker and subject. A mesmerising documentary that develops over a decade of filming, and delves into how womanhood can be embraced in a patriarchal world.
