Two recent Danish films, one feature and one documentary, have been selected for the BFI London Film Festival 2023.

Nightwatch – Demons are Forever by Ole Bornedal is a sequel to Nightwatch from 1994, which centres around the law student, Martin, who starts working as a nightwatch at The Department of Forensic Medicine in Copenhagen. In the sequel, Martin now has a grown daughter who starts working in the same job as her father and soon she has to confront his past.

Apolonia, Apolonia by Lea Glob is about the Danish/French artist Apolonia Sokol and her journey towards finding her place in a world dominated by patriarchy, capitalism and war. The documentary is filmed over a course of thirteen years and portrays womanhood, sexuality, motherhood, love and art.

The film festival will be running from 4 October – 15 October.
