About A Close Shave

A Close Shave UK is a branch of the Danish company, A Close Shave Aps. A Close Shave was founded in 2003, and our social knowledge sharing platform, Academy, was developed in 2011. We strive to help companies engage with their employees, ensure motivated, happy and knowledgable employees, and build healthy company cultures that support growth.

Academy strengthens knowledge sharing, trains employees and gives you a strong tool to increase your sales and improve your service. The data collected on the system along with the admin tools makes it a one-stop-shop for both Management, HR and employees to learn and grow.

We founded The Bear Kitchen to help you do just that. Our supper clubs and event catering service bring together food lovers who care about what they eat, and the planet it comes from.​

This is not about diets, deprivation or turning foods into enemies. Food is joy. But we fully respect individual choices. Vegetarians, vegans, omnivores: all are welcome at The Bear Kitchen. We want to unite people around the pleasure of eating well.​

Our philosophy is simple: eat like a bear. Our furry friend has no concept of local or seasonal ingredients, but she eats nothing else. She munches mostly plants, and treats herself occasionally to good quality fish and meat. Oh, and she’s never heard of a factory farm. She’d feel right at home with our menus. Mette Skovdal

Mette Skovdal is Director of A Close Shave UK, having relocated from Copenhagen to London in Spring of 2019. Mette has a Masters in Philosophy from Copenhagen University, and has worked for A Close Shave as a Project Manager for five years. Mette is the primary contact and content manager for a number of clients in Denmark and the UK, and has a focus on, and primary skills in, behavioural design, copy writing, employee engagement and campaign management.

Brian Fabricius

Brian Fabricius is our Sales Director, based in Copenhagen, and the primary contact for all customers in relation to agreements, pricing and GDPR compliance. Brian has a BA in Business Administration and Law from Aarhus University, and has a strong focus on customers, company strategy and development. Brian has a background in retail from all over Europe, working with well-known brands like Sony, Sennheiser and Jabra.

Michael Tingsager

Michael has been living and breathing the hospitality industry from the day he was born and started working in his mum and dad’s small restaurant group in rural Denmark from an early age. He spent seven years building a 20+ unit cafe chain in Denmark; 11 years working in McDonald’s Denmark and the UK, and more than 8 years as a owner of consultancy business Hospitality Mavericks working with restaurant brands across Europe. Michael is also the CO-founder of The Bear Kitchen in London, which is a catering business delivering into offices across London.
