Recording: Returning Back To Work

When the government announced the countrywide lockdown back in March, little did we know the longitude nor magnitude of the COVID-19 impact on UK businesses. Since then, there have been numerous business support measures put in place, and millions of UK workers have been temporarily put on furlough in order to save jobs.

As of 15 June, some non-essential shops are re-opening, among those large retailers such as H&M, John Lewis and Primark. Within the upcoming weeks, we are likely to expect more businesses to reopen as restrictions begin to ease, including pubs, restaurants and cafes. In other words – a great deal of the UK workforce will be returning to their jobs in the near future.

For employers whose employees are starting to return back to work, there are a number of things that must be taken into consideration in order to ensure the safety of their staff, and that governmental guidelines are followed. Listen to Jacqui Brown, HR Manager at Goodwille, and Anna Kuklinska, HR Advisor at Goodwille, give practical advice to employers on the matter, including

Recent government updates

  • How to select which employee to bring back to work
  • Health and Safety concerns
  • Actions if employees refuse to return to work
  • Employee rotation schemes
  • … and more.

As for employers who have participated in the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, Jacqui and Anna will further cover the process of bringing back furloughed employees to work and recent updates regarding claims.
