Allan Bell, VP and Head of BU UK and Ireland says: “The AOE accreditation will enable us to help our customers navigate through Brexit challenges. It involved hard work in many locations. A big thank you to every one of you in all locations. You have shown what DFDS is made of and how professionally you work.”

AEO are three letters we have come to know well at DFDS recently. It is an abbreviation of the term Authorised Economic Operator, which is a status you can be granted by national customs authorities. It means that you are a trusted partner for the authorities and eases the cooperation and customs processes so we can better assist our customers.

“Therefore I am extremely pleased to announce that the UK customs authorities, HMRC, have granted us AEO status that covers DFDS Logistics Limited and thus all our logistics activities in the UK. It will enable us to help our customers navigate through the Brexit challenges and is also enhancing our customs clearance service to our customers,” says Allan Bell, VP and head of BU UK & Ireland.

“It didn’t come easy. It involved audits in Grimsby, Belfast, Larkhall and Immingham over 10 days, and a lot of our colleagues worked hard for this. A big thank you to every one of you in all locations. You have shown what DFDS is made of and how professionally you work. It also shows that we have come very far in our Brexit preparations,” says Allan.

Jean Aubert, Director of Indirect Taxes, and member of the Group’s Brexit team adds: “It was by far DFDS’ most complex AEO process. We had to demonstrate our knowledge of several customs activities – customs broker, transit operator, customs warehousing – as well as our security preparedness for several sites. And as we were audited by the authorities with Brexit in mind, it is also an acknowledgement of our Brexit preparedness and transparency. The AEO will provide reduced customs guarantees and – more importantly – show our customers we are a certified partner in the field of customs.”

“DFDS Logistics in the UK has been providing customs services to our customers for many years so we have a long history of experience and knowledge, with a dedicated team of customs experts. If Brexit results in more customs protocols being required for transports inside Europe, it is our aim to help our customers through this change in process.” says Allan.
