A successful kick off for the DKUK Young Professionals

25 March 2019 YP News

Last week we hosted our first event for our DKUK Young Professionals. This event was hosted in collaboration with fellow member Adwaiz at the office on Carter Lane in the city. This event focussed on Branding and Social Media Marketing.

Adwaiz were extremely well prepared with tasty Danish inspired food, drinks and knowledgeable speakers for when the guests arrived.

The first speaker was CEO and founder of Adwaiz, Patrick Smith. He told us a bit about his exciting life story, from a small DJ in Norway to entrepreneur and CEO for a very successful business here in London. Patrick also talked about how to brand and do marketing for a company using platforms like Instagram and how to use influencers to promote your products, both on a micro and on a macro level.

Patrick has a talent for keeping his listeners attention on what he communicates because he is so passionate about it and makes it funny at the same time. His presentation was followed by Rea Averill, Chief Marketing Officer, Adwaiz. Rea talked us through the marketing “scam” Fyre festival, the greatest party that never happened. She gave us advice on how to determine if we can trust what influencers tell us through their social media channels. It can be difficult to know which products the influencers actually like, and which they get paid to promote and what the balance is between these two. Rea’s presentation provided us with food for thought, especially in relation to being more sceptical when we scroll through our Instagram feed.

The event ended with an informal networking session including drinks & snacks and with the possibility to talk about what we had just learned with the team from Adwaiz. The Adwaiz team were a big help to the council of Young Professionals in planning this event in all detail from concept through to execution.

New initiative: Young Professionals

29 January 2019 YP News

We are pleased to announce that in 2019 we are introducing a new initiative focusing on the coming generations at the DKUK Association – a Young Professionals Network!

A working group consisting of 8 young professionals are working on bringing this to life. There are multiple ideas which currently are being reviewed and evaluated to scope the setup and what this network is going to include. The working group right now are working on the first kick-off event, a social media plan, and scoping how to launch this initiative.

The first event will happen this spring so please keep an eye out for this on our event site and share with all Young Professionals in your own network and inform them about this initiative. This event will focus on subjects such as personal branding, presentation skills and social media.

In addition, they will from time to time take over the Instagram profile DKUKLondon. Here they expect to share relevant information about the network, events and they will be inviting various Young Professionals to share their everyday life in London and much more - find it here.

We look forward to sharing more details about the Young Professionals Network going forward.
